1. Badaling Great Wall

Badaling is located in east longitude116°65’and north latitude40°25’, northwest of Beijing, about 60 kms away from Beijing. It is a gap of the green and steep Jundu Mountain. It was named according to a book of Ming dynasty, which said that the road was divided here to different directions and reach all places, so it was called Badaling.

Badaling great wall is rather well-known to the world, and it is the earliest part of the Great Wall opened to turists. There is a saying in China: a man who has not climbed the Great Wall is not a true man. So far there have been about 130,000,000 people visiting Badaling great wall, and 372 top leaders of other countries and famous people in the world, such as Nixon, Reagan, Thatcher, Gorbachev, Elizabeth, Heath and so on.

2. the Temple of Heaven

The Temple of Heaven was built in 1420 during the reign of Emperor Youngle of the Ming Dynasty. Situated in the southern part of the city, this grand set of structures covers an area of 273 hectares. To better symbolize heaven and earth, the northern part of the Temple is circular while the southern part is square. The whole compound is enclosed by two walls, a square wall outside a round one. The outer area is characterized by suburban scenery, while the inner part is used for sacrifices. The inner enclosure consists of the Hall of Prayer for Good Harvest and the Circular Mound Altar. The Temple of Heaven served as an exclusive altar for Chinese monarchs during the Ming and Qing dynasties. It was decreed that rulers of successive dynasties would place altars in their own capitals to worship Heaven and pray for good harvest.

3.the Summer Palace

The Summer Palace is located in Haidian district of Beijing, west to the center of the city and about 15kms away from it, which is the largest and best protected royal garden. It is about 294 Gongqing and can be divided into two parts: Longevity Hill and Kunming Lake.

Main Attractions:

Long Corridor: it is about 728 meters along the Kunming Lake. There are more than 8000 pictures on the surface of the corridor, the contents of which are about places of interests, historical stories, legends and so on.

Zhichun Kiosk: it is beside the lake and you can sit there to enjoy the whole hill.

Foxiangge: it is about 41meters high and its stone base is 21 meters high, which is the center of the Summer Palace.

17-cave Bridge: it is 150 meters long and 8 meters wide with 500 different stone lions on it. Beside the bridge, there are bronze cattle and kiosks.

4. the Palace Museum

The Palace Museum, also called the Forbidden City, is located at the center of Beijing and is characterized by thousands of palatial architectures and purple walls as well as yellow glazed tile roofs- it is simply a sea of palaces. The palace museum has served as the royal residence during the Ming and Qing dynasties, and it is the largest and intactest ancient building group.  It was considered as the world heritage by the United Nations in 1988.

It is 720,000 square meters and has 9999.5 rooms, in which all the buildings occupy 15.5 square meters. It looks like a rectangular with pentagons each corner. There is a river around it, called Protection River. In a word, the Palace Museum is the essence of the ancient architectures.
